- How to poach a fish? Poaching is an easy and quick way to cook fish, keeping it moist, full of flavor and light in calories. The simplest method is just to use water as your liquid and add a little lemon juice, garlic, onions, herbs and spices. Place the fish in your Beka fish poacher and add enough poaching liquid to cover the fish. Bring your poaching liquid to a simmer over a medium heat and cook the fish for 10 minutes or until the centre of the fish seems opaque and it flakes easily when prodded with a fork. Do not bring the liquid to a rolling boil - keep it at a simmer. Bon appétit!
